Midnight Train
WRITTEN BY: ANT MCNAUGHT
Jesus’ mother,
she knelt and prayed
but the child that she loved
could not be saved.
Is it hard for thee?
It is hard for me.
Atoms we are,
in a fathomless sea.
Hot tears falling,
I kneel behind the barn;
tears for my father,
ten years gone.
It’s a crazy ride.
See the mountain slide
to the ocean’s shore
and the ocean’s tide.
I wait in the shadow
of Jericho’s wall.
I keen my ear
for the trumpet’s call.
In the heat of day,
I embrace it all
but it’s you that I seek
at twilight’s fall.
Such a crazy ride.
Ah, be by my side.
The moment revealed
as the shining bride.
My heart, it pounds
as the trumpet sounds.
My faith is sealed.
It is iron-bound.
Here I stand
on the shifting sand.
I’m looking across
to the promised land.
The Jordan River
is deep and wide.
Who will I be
on the other side?
Such a crazy ride-
Ah, be by my side
as the mountains slide
to the great divide.
It’s heaven on earth.
It’s a world of pain.
Jesus is coming
on the midnight train.
And Jesus’ mother,
she knelt and prayed
but the child that she loved
could not be saved.
Is it hard for thee?
It is hard for me.
Atoms we are
in a fathomless sea.
Hot tears falling,
I kneel behind the barn;
tears for my father,
ten years gone.
It’s heaven on earth.
It’s a world of pain.
Jesus is coming
on the midnight train.
Jesus is coming
on the midnight train.
